The Cradle of Humankind is a World Heritage Site, about 50 kilometres northwest of Johannesburg, South Africa in the Gauteng Province. This site is currently occupies 47,000 hectares, it contains a complex of limestone caves, including the Sterkfontein Caves.

Admission

Open and closing times

The Maropeng Visitor Centre is open to the public from 09h00 to 17h00 every day. The last boat ride departs at 16h00.

Admission fees

Prices are subject to change without prior notice.

Adults: R115
Children (4-14 years): R65
Children under 4: Free
Pensioners/Students: R80(on production of a valid pensioner/student card)

Combination ticket (Maropeng and Sterkfontein Caves)

Adults: R190
Children (4-14 years): R110
Children under 4: Free

Please note: the combination ticket is only available until 1pm, in order for visitors to have enough time to see both exhibitions.
